White Water Rafting

Wilderness Tours
Location: Foresters Falls, Ontario

Sean drove us up to Wilderness Tours in one van on Wednesday afternoon. The girls did crafts in the car. We made Japanese paper dolls. Traffic was smooth going up but we got stuck in some construction before Eganville. Once we arrived, we had to sign waivers to get wristbands, meal cards and two sets of keys for our Deluxe Cedar Cabin. The accommodations were simple and clean. We had a toiler, fridge, coffee maker, two double beds, couch, trundle and six towels. Dinner was either steak or pasta with sauteed mushrooms, baked potato, bread, salad and chocolate cake. After dinner, we took a dip in the pool and played beach volleyball. The mosquitoes soon drove us to take a shower (the boys didn't bring shampoo or soap) and head back to the cabin. We spent the rest of the night playing Bang! and charades. At one point in the night, a knock on the door brought a very drunk flip cup player. We went to bed around 2am.

The sun woke us up at 5am through the huge skylight in the cabin. We had multiple daily alarms go off until 8:30 rolled around. Breakfast was bacon, scrambled eggs, a scone, toast, cereal, fruit and coffee/orange juice. Check out was at 11am so we cleaned out the cabin and loaded the car before meeting for our 10:30am One Day High Adventure Package. We sat in the back of the bus (like cool kids) to the start point. We got outfitted with paddle, life jacket and helmet. We had 10 people in a 12 person raft. The water level was at an 8. We hit some good rapids but no one fell out of our boat. My favourite part was when we paddled back into a rapid and rode on top of it. Lunch was the standard hot dog and hamburgers with chocolate chip cookies for dessert. When we got back, the video of our first rapid showed our guide catching some nice air time then hitting his helmet with Kevin's.

Only Jess and I had been white water rafting but the water levels are different every time so we experienced new rapids too. It was a long ride there and back but the overall trip was really fun.
