National Museum of Korea

The National Museum of Korea is one of the six largest museums in the world. It has 18 permanent exhibit rooms. Since it is a national museum, we could go in for free.

The hardened varnish visible on the knees indicates that the statue originally had gold pasted over it.

Iron Buddha. At eye level, the head looks disproportionately large for the body and the shoulders too narrow. The chin is also narrow and the lips droops down at the edges. However, from below, the proportions are perfect to a worshiper that would have been on the floor.
